This former school building in Westfield is open daily for groups and people of all ages to use. A warm welcome greets you on arrival followed by the sound of gentle conversation and laughter coming from the popular coffee bar and attractive main hall.
The drama sessions offer the opportunity to those over the age of 16 with a learning disability to develop their performance skills in a totally inclusive and supported environment. The two groups are run by drama professionals, and those who attend cover a variety of subjects using the medium of drama to help them gain an understanding of social situations with the ultimate aim of performing together in front of an audience.
Adults with a learning disability are supported to engage, at their ability level, with a different craft activity each week, with music often being played during craft sessions which helps the creativity flow. The atmosphere in the craft group is both casual and friendly, and is a great opportunity to socialise and make new friends whilst engaging in new experiences. Previous craft activities have included tie-dying, weaving and printing with found materials.
The group for adults with a learning disability takes part in two different sporting activities each week and are supported by LinkAble staff to access a different activity each week along with a visit to the gym. Activities include football, badminton, virtual fitness classes and spinning (indoor cycling).
The choir is run by and for adults with a learning disability which regularly perform in public at events and alongside other musical groups. The only requirement for joining the High Notes choir is that you enjoy music, wish to sing and are able attend rehearsals regularly.
A group for adults with a learning disability where sessions include gentle exercise, stretches and relaxation with the aim of increasing flexibility, strength and well-being. A relaxed and friendly group which is available for all levels of fitness.
A social group for adults with a learning disability which is service user led where attendees make suggestions about activities they would like to engage in. Activities which have previously been popular with the group include swimming, donutting, cooking and outdoor games.
